5 Summer Solight Activities

For many of us, the end of summer is right around the corner, and we are making the most of the few moments we have left. Be it camping, picnic-ing, or going straw-less, now is your last chance to make a #sustainablesummer difference! 1. Use it on your boat!

Solights are the perfect addition to any boating trip. Charge it during the day and use it to see at night. It works as an anchor light, or to illuminate your deck. Our SolarPuffs are virtually indestructible; we've even dragged them behind our boat at night and they still worked perfectly!

2. Swimming

Swimming is a quintessential summer time activity, and Solights are the best way to take it to the next level. Sometimes when we set out for a lake or ocean swim, we find that visibility is already reduced by the time we get back. This can be especially dangerous if you're sharing the water with bigger boats and vessels. Lighting up a Solight while you swim allows others to spot you more easily. Even in a pool and especially when it gets dark, Solights can help you keep an eye on younger ones. Not to mention, swimming through floating lights makes everything more fun!

3. Camping

Camping is a great family activity. It's exciting to be outdoors and off the grid, but sometimes having a source of light at night when everything else gets dark can make it much more enjoyable. While a traditional option may be flashlights, the more sustainable and ultimately cheaper option is using Solights. There is a huge global demand for batteries; the global lithium-ion battery market is predicted to surpass $77 billion by 2024. In the U.S. alone, the EPA predicts 3 billion batteries are thrown away every year. 4. Biking

Whether for leisure or getting to work, biking is a great means of transportation during the summer. It's good for both your personal health and also for the environment, too! However, you also need to be careful when you bike, especially at night, on busy roads and around cars. Biking with lights is one of the best safety measures you can take (along with a helmet, of course), and at 2.6 ounces, Solights won't add any stress to your trip!

5. Take your meal outside

Eating outside is a great way to savor summer weather, and it allows you to turn down the AC and turn off the lights. Air conditioning contributes to noise pollution, affects your respiratory system, can be drying on skin and mucous membranes, and can even transmit infectious diseases and cause allergic reactions. Instead, take a seat outside, breath in that fresh air, and light your meal with the help of solar energy!
